Having worked with Aequus for over a decade Bill Rodgers is particularly fond of the black bay Champion. “There’s no doubt that Aequus is a ‘Once-in-a-Lifetime’ horse. He has arguably won more than any other park horse in the history of the Arabian breed.” A great outcross for the overabundant *Bask and Huckleberry Bey English Arabian bloodlines currently in vogue, Aequus’s pedigree reads like a “Who’s Who” of the best performance Crabbet, Babson and Maynesboro breeding ever imported into America. He is already a proven sire of high performance champions from daughters of Pro-Fire and Promotion. Foaled in 1988, Aequus has sired limited offspring. Even so, a significant number have inherited his unique abilities at the trot. His daughters in particular have already become priceless as action-producing broodmares. Many of them are quite beautiful, have exceptional athletic ability and are nearly impossible to obtain because of their value and scarcity. In a time of “cookie cutter” pedigrees and show horses with dubious attitudes, Aequus is a uniquely Arabian horse. An incredible talent, a record-breaking career and a rare, marketable pedigree are all wonderful assets, but they pale in comparison with the intelligence, competitive drive and Arabian heart and spirit that is the essence of Aequus. |
